(2015-07-08) HTTP Error 500.0 Internal Server Error – When Accessing Federation Metadata

Do you have a claims based website and do you get the following error when accessing the federation metadata of the application?

To try to resolve this error, do the following:

  • Check if the builtin group IIS_IUSRS has Read and Execute NTFS permissions (Scope: This Folder, Subfolders and Files) on the folder of the web application
  • Check if the builtin group IIS_IUSRS has the user right "Impersonate A Client After Authentication" on the server running the claims based application

After configuring this, execute GPUPDATE /FORCE and IISRESET

(2013-11-01) Advanced Logging, Event Tracing Or Troubleshooting Within FIM Components

This really helps you in troubleshooting very nasty problems with any FIM component.
