(2012-10-22) Presenting At The Experts Conference (TEC) In Barcelona (Spain)

Posted by Jorge on 2012-10-22

As we speak, I’m preparing my presentation and demo’s for tomorrow (Tuesday, October 23rd 2012) about all object recovery methods in all Windows Server versions released until now. It will cover common information related to object recovery and then I will dive in into the technical specific for each method available. This presentation will  consist of two sessions of each 75 minutes and I will also show 4 demo’s, one for each method of recovering objects.

Figure 1: Opening Slide Of Session

  • Location: Barcelona, Spain – Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I
  • Meeting Room: “J”
  • Time: 10:15 – 11:30 (part 1) & 11:30 – 12:45 (part 2)
  • Session Title: “The Evolution Of Object Recovery In AD – The Road To Perfection – A Technical Deep Dive (Part 1 and Part 2)”
  • Level: 400
  • Abstract: Since the beginning, when Active Directory was first released with Windows 2000 Server, the methods and means for object recovery in AD have evolved and improved each time a new version of Windows was released. In time, the technology made it more easy to recover objects and prevent the loss of data after recovery. We will start this session with an introduction to object recovery related topics, followed by an explanation of all object recovery methods in all versions of AD after an accidental (mass) deletion, including what’s new in Windows Server 2008 R2 and in Windows Server "8". The session will finish with recommendations around object recovery. This session consists of two parts (2x 75 min.) and will include multiple demos!

(2012-02-09) New Job, New Role And Definitely New Interesting Challenges

Posted by Jorge on 2012-02-09

After being contacted by a previous colleague of mine that I worked with about 7 or 8 years ago at CMG/LogicaCMG, he offered me a very interesting, challenging and cool position at the company he is working for at the moment. From a role and ambition perspective, this was just an offer I could not resist. With that in mind I can tell you that I’m very excited to embrace my new interesting challenge at a new company/employer. Therefore after working for more than 3,5 years for Oxford Computer Group (OCG) (http://oxfordcomputergroup.com/) as a Senior Consultant, as of march 1st 2012 I’m joining Valid B.V. (http://www.valid.nl/) in the role of Principal Consultant Infrastructure Services.

Nice! Smile

(2010-11-10) OCG Partner, Tools4FIM, Launching Tools To Enhance Your FIM 2010 Deployment

Posted by Jorge on 2010-11-10

Webinar – Tools4FIM. Faster, smarter FIM 2010 deployment

Tools4FIM, with Oxford Computer Group as their launch partner, would like to invite you, as a FIM expert/user, to join a webinar showcasing some cool tools now available for smarter and faster deployment of FIM 2010.

The webinar will explain in detail the 2 software tools available from Tools4FIM.

Agenda:

  • FIMalyzer product demo
  • RCDC product demo
  • Business model and value proposition for FIMalyzer
  • Q&A and feedback as time allows

The FIMalzyer:

  • Produces an automated, but fully configurable, technical report of your FIM implementation; this supports operation, support, audit and disaster recovery.
  • Allows interactive analysis of the FIM Service configuration; this allows you to validate and troubleshoot your configuration, for example by following back-links (not available in the portal) and searching on usage keywords. It is a great tool that can help save many frustrating days on a typical FIM engagement.

The RCDC Editor:

  • Provides WYSIWYG editing of those fiddly Resource Control Display Configurations (rather than built-in XML editing)
  • Restricts your edits to sensible/allowable options, saving frustrating hour after frustrating hour of "guess and test"

Please join us via LiveMeeting on:

16th Nov at 5pm GMT / 12pm EST / 9am PDT

17th Nov 6pm GMT / 1pm EST / 10am PDT

To register, click here, complete the form and select the date you wish to register for from the dropdown menu.

Joining instructions for the webinar will be sent to you shortly before the day.

About Tools4FIM:

Tools4FIM is an Identity and Access Management software company specializing in equipping Microsoft system integration partners and consultants with tools to enable faster, smarter and more accurate deployment of FIM2010.

Cheers,
Jorge

(2009-06-03) OCG Documentor For ILM/MIIS

Posted by Jorge on 2009-06-03

OCG has a tool called the OCG Documentor for ILM. This tool automatically documents the server configuration, the MA configuration and the code used in the Rules Extensions. It’s cool, its’ hot, it’s accurate and it’s fast!

There’s a free version and there is a paid for version. You could compare the versions with IIFP and ILM. The free version only allows documentation of the AD, ADAM and GalSync MAs and the paid for version allows documentation of all other MAs including XMAs including the addition of additional documentation. After using the free version it is possible upgrade to the paid for version by purchasing a release key.

After reading all the info, a WORD report is generated based upon that information. Did you ILM configuration change for whatever reason, then simply rerun OCG’ Documentor and your documentation is up-to-date again.

Summarized:

  • Provides semi-automated documentation of your ILM installation
  • Provides an Integrated report which includes all management agents and metaverse configuration details with built in cross references (hyperlinks)
  • Extracts source code from the installation’s Visual Studio projects and inserts at the appropriate points in the report
  • Produces a document which is readable and can be easily distributed
  • Can be used as part of an iterative development process
  • Will detect and warn of configuration errors and anomalies
  • The MIIS documentation can be customized via a control file which enables you to:
    • Insert word documents into the report at specified locations to add context-specific information such as descriptions and diagrams
    • Insert sections of content from other text files, this for instance would allow you to include code details which may not be detected by the documentor.

If you are interested in documenting your complete ILM installation as part of a system audit, then please contact us: info@oxfordcomputergroup.com

To download the tool and for more information, click here.

To purchase a release key, click here

To see an example report see the ZIP file as an attachment to this post which contains a PDF.

Something else that’s very interesting is that at the moment a colleague of mine in the UK is building a FIM2010 (a.k.a. ILM 2) compatible Documentor.

Cheers,
Jorge

Posted by Jorge on 2008-06-16

Oxford Computer Group Honored as 2008 Microsoft Partner of the Year for Advanced Infrastructure Solutions, Active Directory

Oxford Computer Group – 16 June, 2008 – Today, Oxford Computer Group (OCG) proudly announced it has won the 2008 Microsoft Partner of the Year award for Advanced Infrastructure Solutions, Active Directory. The company was chosen out of an international field of top Microsoft partners as delivering market-leading customer solutions built on Microsoft technology.

"It is a great honor to receive this award which is a validation of our expertise and focus on identity and access solutions," said Neil Coughlan, Director, Oxford Computer Group. "We would like to thank our customers for great references and our people whose capability and professionalism sets us apart from the competition."

Awards were presented in a number of categories, with winners chosen from a pool of more than 2,000 entrants worldwide. The Advanced Infrastructure Solutions, Active Directory Partner of the Year award recognizes OCG’s proficiency in implementing solutions based on Windows Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS). Microsoft has recognized OCG’s quick start solution for provisioning Microsoft’s hosted Windows Live services – one of a range of related IDA services, such as identity lifecycle management, strong authentication and federation which can form part of a wider strategy.

"OCG was the first of our systems integrator partners to build a business focusing exclusively on providing Microsoft directory and identity management consulting services to enterprise and mid-market customers," said Gordon Frazer, Vice President, Microsoft International. "We commend the way in which OCG has scored customer success using Windows Live Quick start, notching up more than a dozen educational institutions, and in the process providing students the benefits of Microsoft directory and identity management solutions."
