(2009-10-04) Workflow Activities Designed For ILM2 RC0 May Not Work For FIM 2010 RC1

Posted by Jorge on 2009-10-04

If you have designed and created workflow activities to be used in ILM 2 RC0, those may not work anymore in FIM 2010 RC1. Reasons for this are changes in the product.

Some examples you may experience:

(1)

You install the already compiled DLL in the GAC using the GACUTIL and afterwards you create Activity Information Configuration objects for each activity you have. You then try to create a Workflow for which you want to have one of your new workflow activities, but your activities are not listed.

(2)

If the above does not work, you may want to recompile your code, but then you may see errors like (that were not there before):

  • ‘Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.ActivitySettingsPart.DesignerHostProvider’ is inaccessible due to its protection level
  • The property or indexer ‘Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.ActivitySettingsPart.DesignerHostProvider’ cannot be used in this context because the get accessor is inaccessible

I’m not a developer, so to be honest I do not know how to solve this. More hints about this can be found here:

Cheers,
Jorge
